Need: About
70 percent of children attend the government run schools. A high proportion
of children in SPW's target schools go
through Primary School without learning to read or write and tend to drop
out of school at this stage.
Aim: Every child has unlimited
potential to learn and achieve. All the child needs is an opportunity
to discover and develop his/her potential.
The aim is specifically to help children acquire expected
competencies and ensure attendance.

Key methods: SPW's experience
shows that students only need find their existence inside the school gainful,
relevant and beneficial to dramatically improve educational success. SPW
volunteers are taught throughout their training participatory and learner-centred
techniques which they use with the students and share with the teachers
during their placement at the school. In particular they will:
Define levels
of learning and achievement in each class especially at the Primary
School level. |
Use creative teaching methods. |
Introduce extra curricular
activities, in particular sports. |
Provide opportunities to
discus values and civic responsibilities. |
Provide learning experiences
that can help children to make right choices in life. |
Link learning with life. |
Provide leadership opportunities
through SPW clubs. |
